About Us
our philosophy
Reading is the foundation of learning and the doorway to stories, history and so much more. Reading builds on our love of learning and makes us laugh out loud. That is why I began the LOL Reading Center.
I am a certified teacher and reading specialist with my Masters in Education, Type 10 certification and 12 years public school experience applying research-based methodologies to assess struggling readers and then identifying and applying the right solution for each child. I strongly believe that there is not a one-size-fits-all solution for struggling readers. We customize instruction to meet the unique needs of your child.

Children work harder and learn more when they are having fun and experience success. Finding just the right level of challenge for a child is pivotal to making their path to becoming a reader a success. Reaching struggling readers is about helping them build their skills, stamina, and confidence. After making a connection with your child, I aim to arm them with the tools to overcome their reading challenges, build their confidence, and ultimately their love of learning.

About Me
I'm Carrie Andalman and I created the LOL Reading Center after 12 years as a Reading Specialist in District 36 (Winnetka). I have a Masters in Education from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a Type 10 Reading Certification from National Louis University. I have been certified and worked with children using a variety of research-based methodologies designed to help struggling readings, including Orton Gillingham, Reading Recovery, SLANT and Words Their Way, among others.
My real goal is to help your child become a successful reader and foster a love of learning.
